Electronic Cigarette Business OpportunitiesImported E-Cigarettes Generate Home Business Sales
Touted as the perfect online home business, imported electronic cigarettes pose fewer health risks, come in distinctive flavors and cost less than traditional cigarettes.
Introduced by the Chinese company Ruan in 2007, an electronic cigarette is a battery-powered gadget that enables smokers to inhale a vaporized nicotine solution from its mouthpiece. Inhaling also activates a light-emitting diode (LED) at the opposite end of an e-cigarette that simulates the glow of burning tobacco. Some electronic cigarettes resemble pens, while many look exactly like regular cigarettes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, some 32 million adults or 70% of the 45 million smokers in American want to quit smoking. The Tobacco Academy reports that 1 in 3 adults worldwide is a smoker. This translates into a potential global market for e-cigarettes of at least 1.5 billion people. Despite the fact that smoking regular cigarettes is known to cause cancer, most smokers find quitting extremely difficult. Electronic cigarettes are a compelling product for consumers who want to replace conventional cigarettes without giving up enjoyment associated with the habit. Most electronic cigarette sales are made via the Internet. One entrepreneur has listed his e-cigarette website on eBay, advertising electronic cigarette sales as the “Perfect Online Home Business.” Marketing Electronic CigarettesE-cigarettes satisfy nicotine cravings while enabling regular smokers to experience the physical act of smoking. Entrepreneurs who sell e-cigarettes focus on the product’s benefits and advantages over traditional cigarettes.
One e-cigarette maker, Cigana, points out that electric cigarette products are also environmentally friendly because these electric products will reduce the several trillion cigarette butts littered worldwide each year. Different E-Cigarette Flavors to Match Consumer TastesAnother marketing strength of e-cigarettes is the wide range of available flavors that nicotine cartridges come in. Consumers can buy a starter kit of e-cigarettes, then order replacement nicotine cartridges in flavors of their choice. Regular smokers can choose flavors like cigar, flue-cured tobacco, menthol or French pipe. Smokers can also opt for the flavors of distinct cigarette brands such as America’s Marlboro, China’s 5 5 5, Europe’s Hilton or Japan’s Mild Seven. Other examples of flavors for e-cigarette vapors are apple, caramel, cherry, coconut, coffee, cola, cream, peach, pineapple and strawberry. Chocolate, vanilla, red tea and Red Bull varieties are more exotic varieties, while more conservative users can choose the healthcare flavor (ginseng with added vitamins) or tasteless nicotine cartridges. Cigana reports that tobacco and menthol are the most common flavors of electronic cigarettes. Controllable Nicotine Levels in Each E-CigaretteIn addition to the different flavors, nicotine levels in the cartridges can range from none, low (6 milligrams), medium (11 mg), high (16 mg) to extra high (24 mg). This enables consumers to gradually reduce nicotine levels which helps to quit smoking altogether. Costs of Electronic CigarettesRegular cigarettes cost roughly $10 per pack including taxes. The nicotine cartridges for the Green Smoke brand of electronic cigarettes cost $3 each. A Green Smoke cartridge is the equivalent of 1.6 packs of conventional cigarettes. A one-pack-a-day smoker who switches to electronic cigarettes will realize savings of $243.75 monthly and $2,965.63 annually, according to the Electronic Cigarette Savings Calculator. The automated online calculation appears to ignore the $109 required to buy the Green Smoke starter kit. The starter kit includes 2 e-cigarettes, 5 nicotine cartridges, 1 USB charger to charge off of a computer device, plus a home charger that plugs into a standard electrical outlet. Even so, e-cigarettes can more than pay for themselves in savings during their first monthly of use alone. See also Sources for Imported E-Cigarettes and Imported Electronic Cigarettes Pose Risks.
